It seems that footballers aren't the healthy role models we always thought they were. According to this piece in the Guardian the Food Commission has hit out at professional clubs and players who have endorsed crappy junk food that is turning us into a nation of spotty, obese couch potatoes. Hopefully this means we will see an end to Gary Lineker trying to be funny and pretending he can act whilst tempting the nation's yoot into unhealthy snacks, although we doubt it. With burger death joints and carcinogenic (allegedly) fizzy drink manufacturers amongst the major sponsors of Champions League and World Cup tournaments we suspect that the only thing that will stop their pernicious messages being subliminally beamed into our brains is by a ban similar to that on tobacco advertising. Our collective breaths are not being held.
