There have been some fun and games going on down the road, as the Swubdub board finally saw sense (they must have been prompted) and gave Andy King his marching orders. Of course the sense didn't last too long as they appointed reserve team manager Iffy Onuora as his temporary replacement. The options for Swobalob are interesting, and there are two out-of-work managers who we would happily recommend for the post, with Graham Rix having recently been joined by Ian Atkins as manager-without-portfolio. Atkins may not be such a bad choice for Swibble, as it happens, as his brand of firefighting might be just what is required to rescue them from the relegation mire. Even if that were to happen, though, we can't help but think that with the type of football that Swurble fans would have to endure it would still be worthwhile.

An article that we missed from last week's Guardian Online, all about how fans are organising to save their clubs using the internet as a vital tool. Although the article was written by someone purporting to support swindon (nobody's perfect) it does highlight some success stories (and, who knows, perhaps swindon will be one of them?) and gives an inkling into the workings of supporters trusts.

There's an excellent article in today's Guardian, by columnist Rod Liddle, comparing Swindon Town to the Tory party. Some of the comparisons are fairly obvious: they're both obnoxious, low-lifes, supported by ignorant fools. They're also both in disarray, fighting for their survival and deeply unpopular. The article also manages to draw out some of the less clearcut similarities, such as that between Andy King and Iain Duncan Smith (and not just the fact that they're both follically challenged), and the inept tactics that both cling to in a vain, desparate hope that they might just work. The only drawback with this cutting analysis is that it leaves Oxford, as Swindon's main rivals, in the role of New Labour, which is clearly a distasteful analogy and one that we should draw a line under right here.

A somewhat humorous report from today's Guardian about swindon's attempts to offload tubby Neil Ruddock from their wage bill. Okay, the report itself isn't written that funnily, but you've got to laugh at the Moonrakers, the one team in the league that makes United look almost ept.
